Community Jam Part of Shipley COOL SUMMER NIGHTS SERIES

Traditional favorite jam tunes but not at breakneck speed. Gather some resources such as Terry’s Jam Book, Fiddlers Fake Book, or other music or ‘by ear’ tunes. See the suggested JAM TUNE LIST on the scdh.org website for ideas. Terry is an experienced band leader, and Barbara hosts monthly hammered dulcimer sessions on Zoom.

FRETTED/MOUNTAIN DULCIMER

"HOW TO JAM – Focus on FRETTED DULCIMERS"

BEGINNERS/EARLY INTERMEDIATE
Gain experience playing in a group – even in a virtual jam. Overview of songs,
playing techniques, chords, single note playing, finger style and more.
After Registering: Choose 2 songs to work on in the group. Send choices to Bill
at - billdempsey@cox.net at least a week before the workshop. Recommended:
dulcimer capo. [Registration required]

HAMMERED DULCIMER

"Playing Circle"

BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
Play along with Patti as she leads the group through favorite tunes at a ‘friendly’ pace. Jamming has become a popular way to build your tune repertoire and enjoy playing with other hammered dulcimer players even remotely. It works using ZOOM. Patti hosts a monthly hammered dulcimer session on Zoom.  [Registration required]

FRETTED/MOUNTAIN DULCIMER

“Playing Circle” 

ALL LEVELS WELCOME
Join Joellen Lapidus in an old fashion playing circle. We sit in a circle. We go around the room and each person presents a tune. Those who know it join in. Joellen will tell you what key and chords to use. Guarantee you’ll learn new tunes and get experience playing in front of a group. Joellen has taught many SoCal mountain dulcimer players and guided her students to participate in local performances. She hosts her Zoom Mountain Dulcimer Club Meetings monthly to keep us all playing and to develop our repertoire. She makes it fun for all!!  [Registration required]
